Dear Voters, Everyday our families struggle to rebuild their lives as
we move forward with the recovery process. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated
our public schools, and left us without adequate health care services or affordable
housing. Our alarming crime rates and increasing insurance premiums also threaten
recovery. We need a leader in Congress that will fight for the resources that
our families need to rebuild their homes and their families. We need someone to
create better opportunities for our children through improved public schools and
good-paying jobs. We need a leader that will work to make this a safe place, addressing
our crime crisis, restoring our coastline, improving our levees, and securing
our ports. I grew up in Central City, graduated from Mercy Academy and Howard
University, and received my law degree from Tulane. I have strong family roots
in New Orleans. I have spent the last seven years in the State Legislature fighting
to improve failing schools, to make government work better for the people it serves,
and to hold insurance companies accountable in the aftermath of the storm. In
Congress, I will work hard to restore faith and commitment to public service.
I work hard every day to be a leader who makes you proud. I need your support
and your prayers. On November 7th, I ask you to make me your choice to represent
you in Washington. Best regards,
Representative
